Simplified Little Paper, Review of Social-Scientific Report of Research

2. Background/Research goals: 1-3 sentences
a. e.g. “The authors did a study to find out how classroom interactions change with mask mandates lifted.” You should mention their theory (or lack thereof).
3. Research methods: 2 or 3 sentences
a. e.g. “The authors did an on-line survey of 300 students at a mid-western university. They posted the survey and asked students to volunteer, so it was a convenience sample.” (Obviously a different study from the one in #2.)
4. Findings: about a page
a. Focus on what you can understand in the section labelled “results” or “findings” or something similar. Put EVERYTHING in your own words!
5. What you think about the study: page. About ½ page. Include the following
a. Your evaluation of the quality of the research, including strengths and weaknesses
b. Your personal reaction to the study. This can be how it connects to something we’ve studied, how it fits with what you know from personal experience (direct or indirect) or simply your own emotional reaction to the work.
6. Attach a PDF copy of the first page of the article. This page should have the title, authors, etc., and the abstract.
