Choose ANY poem from Best American Poetry of 2020.
Directions:
MLA style
Length: minimum 1000 words, not including Works Cited page
Works Cited page that includes (minimally) 1) the poem and 2) sources where you got information about the poet
Example of Citing a Poem MLA Style for the Works Cited:

Example of Citing a Poem In-Text:
In Adrienne Rich’s poem, “Aunt Jennifer’s Tigers,” Rich describes how “Uncle’s wedding band / Sits heavily upon Aunt Jennifer’s hand” (lines 7-8). The band evidently is a sign of the oppression.
Title (unique title)
Part One: Brief introduction of the poem (1 paragraph)
Include general information, such as the title of the poem, the author, when the poem was written, what kind of poem it is, what it is about, no thesis required
Part Two: Information about the poet (specifically how the poet’s life/experiences
relate to the poem if possible) (min. 1 paragraph, not to exceed one page) Paraphrase is best for this, but DO include the source in the text, MLA style
Part Three: Analysis and Identification of Speaker , Tone, Style
Part Four: Analysis of Allusion, Metaphor, Simile, Personification, Symbolism in the poem (use quotes)
(if it is present in the poem–if it is not, the you don’t need to include it).You do not have to list EVERY example of metaphor, simile personification, just one example per category, if it exists.
Part Five: Personal: How the poem affects you and relates to you or your
experiences—how you can incorporate the poem into your life (minimum 1
paragraph)
