Stakeholder engagement can help guide foundation for outcome, conduct, evaluate, process of policy, and provide insight of methods/outcomes for stakeholder engagement (Lemke, 2015). When working on policy analysis it’s also important to know who your stakeholders are, because key stakeholders will be involved and affected by the decision to implement change, you want to have stakeholders support/oppose decision, and working with your key stakeholders provided engagement in methods/feedback, increase the quality/trustworthiness of policy to improve health outcome (Lemke, 2015).For my project, some key stakeholders would be American Indian/Alaska Native organizations that would be great resource for policy change for 2013 Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Indian Health Services (IHS), Mending the Sacred Hoop, National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center (NIWRC), National Congress of American Indian (NCAI), Tribal legislators (various tribal council from different tribes), etc. Two major stakeholders would be National Congress of American Indian (NCAI) and VAWA 2013 Special Domestic Violence Criminal Jurisdiction (SDVCJ).From my research thus far, National Congress of American Indian (NCAI) has a task force on violence against women that was established in 2003 to enhance safety for Native women and with VAWA there been a relationship established with Indian tribes to create federal trust (NCAI, 2022). Since National Congress of American Indian (NCAI) has a relationship with VAWA, NCAI would be the best stakeholder to establish relationship with to restructure VAWA policy. NCAI involved in policy change would be addressing the gaps present with current policy, establishing more resources for indigenous men, strengthen the policy to be inclusive of indigenous men, and strengthen jurisdiction for non-Indian preparators.Faith-based organizations could be great resource to promote awareness or a contributing organization to non-profit organization. Some tribal communities have limited resources but there are faith-based organizations which could provide a place of comfort and a place to turn to for safety. Faith-based organizations might be able to provide food/shelter/clothing/etc. during time of need and great organization to work with for domestic violence.Reference:Lemke, A. A., & Harris-Wai, J. N.
