ISTE Standards

In this module we review the standards laid out for older children and youth. Today’s students must be prepared to thrive in a constantly evolving technological landscape. The ISTE Standards for Students are designed to empower student voice and ensure that learning is a student-driven process.
Read and review all 7 standards, then select 2 for an in-depth study. Watch the videos provided, then locate two professional peer-reviewed journal articles (one for each standard) that explores how a teacher might help children develop these skills. Our readings from the text explore digital media and emerging technology that may be useful to support literacy, dual-language learners, children with special needs, and STEM through innovative practices. In this paper, our focus is how that is supported by ISTE standards. Your essay should be about 3-4 pages.
For example, you might select #2, digital citizenship. In what ways can educators help children recognize the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living, learning and working in an interconnected digital world, and they act and model in ways that are safe, legal and ethical? Can you find a research-article with some recommendations?
As another example, you might select #7, global communicator. In what ways can a teacher use technology to help children meet this standard? In your mind, would instruction for dual-language learners apply? How so?
